Effective date: 11 July 2026 Version: 1.0

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the a11yfy platform. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

The a11yfy platform (the "Service", "a11yfy", "we", "us") is operated by Zoltan Csordas E.V., a business registered in the European Union (the "Operator"). a11yfy is developed and operated by a team led by Zoltán Csordás. Full registration details are available in our Imprint.

Contact: support@a11yfy.com

Throughout these Terms, "a11yfy" refers to the Service and its Operator.

2. The Service

a11yfy is a cloud-based software-as-a-service platform that automatically converts PDF documents into accessible, tagged PDF files designed to conform to the PDF/UA-1 standard (ISO 14289-1), and provides related accessibility diagnostics and reports. The Service is offered through the following surfaces, all governed by these Terms:

  • the web application at a11yfy.com;
  • the a11yfy API (/v1) and any client libraries we publish;
  • the a11yfy WordPress plugin;
  • conformance certificates — digitally signed statements summarising the results of automated machine checks performed on a specific output file at a specific point in time (see Section 11).

Feature descriptions, processing options, and current capabilities are described on the website and in the documentation. We may improve, extend, or modify the Service over time.

3. Accounts and organisations

3.1 Registration

Using the Service requires an account with a valid email address. You must be at least 18 years old, or use the Service on behalf of an organisation that you are authorised to represent.

3.2 Account security

You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API keys confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@a11yfy.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

3.3 Organisations

The Service supports organisation accounts in which multiple users collaborate and share a credit balance. Organisation owners and administrators are responsible for managing member access. Actions taken by members within an organisation (including credit consumption) are attributed to that organisation.

4. Plans, credits and payment

4.1 Payment processing — Paddle (Merchant of Record)

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles all payment processing, provides customer service for payment-related inquiries, handles returns and refunds, and is responsible for issuing invoices and collecting and remitting applicable VAT and sales taxes.

Your purchase is additionally subject to Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms. We do not issue invoices or collect payments directly, and we never see or store your full payment card details.

4.2 Credit system

The Service operates on a credit basis: processing a document deducts credits from your account or organisation balance. Current prices, subscription plans, included credit amounts, and per-operation credit costs are shown on the Pricing page.

  • Subscription credits are added to your balance at the start of each billing period while your subscription is active.
  • Credit packs are one-time purchases and do not expire while your account remains active.
  • Promotional credits (such as welcome credits granted at signup) are provided free of charge, have no monetary value, and may be modified or withdrawn for future signups at any time.
  • Overage: active subscribers may continue processing beyond their included credits; overage usage is metered and charged through Paddle as described on the Pricing page.

4.3 Credit rules

  • Credits have no cash value and are not redeemable for money except as set out in the Refund Policy or where required by law.
  • Credits are not transferable outside the account or organisation for which they were purchased.
  • Before processing starts, the Service verifies that sufficient credits are available.
  • If processing fails due to an error on our side, the reserved credits are automatically returned to your balance.

4.4 Subscription changes and cancellation

You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time in the billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; until then the subscription remains active. Statutory refund rights are described in the Refund Policy.

4.5 Price changes

We may change prices and plan structures. Price changes never apply retroactively and take effect for existing subscriptions no earlier than the next billing period, with prior notice by email.

5. Your documents

5.1 Ownership

You retain all rights, including copyright, in the documents you upload and in the accessible output files generated from them. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your content to us.

5.2 Licence to process

By uploading a document, you grant a11yfy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, analyse, modify, and transmit that document solely as necessary to provide the Service — including document analysis, remediation, validation, certificate issuance, delivery of output files, and routine backup — and for no other purpose.

5.3 No AI training

We do not use your documents, their content, or the generated output files to train generalised artificial-intelligence models.

5.4 Your responsibilities for uploaded content

You warrant that you are entitled to submit each document for processing and that processing it as described in these Terms does not infringe any third-party rights. Do not upload documents containing special categories of personal data (Article 9 GDPR — e.g. health data) or data relating to criminal convictions, unless you have verified that you are legally entitled to have them processed by a service provider and have notified us in advance at support@a11yfy.com. Where uploaded documents contain personal data, you act as the data controller for that content and a11yfy processes it on your behalf under the Data Processing Agreement, which forms an integral part of these Terms for all customers uploading personal data in the course of business; see also our Privacy Policy.

5.5 Retention and deletion

Uploaded input documents and generated output files are automatically deleted after the retention periods stated in the Privacy Policy (currently: input files 7 days after upload, output files 30 days after completion). You can delete your documents earlier at any time. Upon account deletion, all stored documents are permanently removed.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to process documents whose content is unlawful;
  • upload files designed to disrupt or compromise the Service (e.g. malware, deliberately malformed files intended to exploit vulnerabilities);
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or the underlying infrastructure;
  • circumvent usage limits, credit accounting, or rate limits, including by creating multiple accounts to accumulate promotional credits;
  • resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without our prior written agreement;
  • use the Service to build a directly competing automated PDF-remediation service, or systematically extract our processing results for that purpose;
  • interfere with or place disproportionate load on the Service (e.g. denial-of-service, aggressive scraping).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section (see Section 14).

7. API and WordPress plugin

API keys are issued per organisation and must be kept confidential; you are responsible for usage under your keys. API usage is subject to the documented rate limits and consumes credits in the same way as the web application. The WordPress plugin is provided under its own open-source licence where indicated; its connection to the Service and all processing performed through it are governed by these Terms.

8. Intellectual property

The a11yfy platform — including its software, algorithms, design, documentation, and trademarks — is the intellectual property of the Operator or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Feedback you voluntarily provide about the Service may be used by us without restriction or compensation.

9. Third-party services

We use carefully selected third-party providers to deliver the Service, including cloud-infrastructure providers and specialised document-analysis and AI services. The categories of providers, their locations, and the applicable data-protection safeguards are described in the Privacy Policy. We remain responsible to you for the Service as a whole; however, we are not liable for outages of third-party services beyond our reasonable control (see Section 13).

10. No compliance guarantee; no legal advice

Please read this section carefully.

  • a11yfy is a tool that automates a substantial part of PDF accessibility remediation. However, the Service does not guarantee full conformance of any document with PDF/UA, WCAG, EN 301 549, or any other accessibility standard, law, or regulation (including the European Accessibility Act, national implementations thereof, the ADA, or Section 508), and use of the Service does not guarantee that no accessibility complaints or claims will be made regarding your documents.
  • Certain aspects of document accessibility — such as the appropriateness of AI-generated alternative text, the semantic correctness of reading order, or the accuracy of table structures — cannot be fully verified by machine and may require human review. Automated reports may not identify all accessibility issues.
  • The Service transforms the documents you upload. While we aim to preserve document content faithfully, automated processing — in particular optical character recognition (OCR) of scanned documents — may introduce content errors or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing output files for content accuracy before publishing or otherwise relying on them.
  • a11yfy does not provide legal advice or legal services. No output, report, score, or certificate produced by the Service constitutes legal advice or a legal determination of conformity. You remain solely responsible for your own compliance with the laws applicable to you.

11. Certificates

Conformance certificates issued by the Service are digitally signed statements that a specific output file passed the specified automated machine checks (such as veraPDF PDF/UA validation) at the time of issuance. A certificate is not a legal guarantee of accessibility or regulatory compliance, does not cover aspects that require human judgement, and does not apply to any file that has been modified after issuance. Certificate verification is available on our verification page.

12. Availability; beta features

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may perform maintenance, and we may offer features marked as beta or experimental, which are provided without any warranty and may change or be withdrawn at any time.

13. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability

13.1 Disclaimer

Except as expressly stated in these Terms and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any express or implied warranty, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

13.2 Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of data (except where caused by our breach of Section 5);
  • our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the total amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 100, whichever is greater.

13.3 Exceptions

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or for harm to life, limb, or health. Statutory rights of consumers remain unaffected.

14. Term, suspension and termination

14.1 Term

These Terms apply from account creation until account deletion.

14.2 Termination by you

You may delete your account at any time in the account settings. Deletion is subject to a short grace period, after which your account and stored documents are permanently removed, as described in the Privacy Policy.

14.3 Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or terminate an account with immediate effect if the account materially breaches these Terms (in particular Section 6), or where we are required to do so by law. Where reasonable, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to remedy the breach first. Upon any termination you may request a copy of your data during the deletion grace period.

15. Indemnification

If you use the Service in the course of business, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from the content of documents you upload (including alleged infringement of intellectual-property rights or unlawful personal-data content), except to the extent the claim was caused by our breach of these Terms. This section does not apply to consumers.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you do not agree with the modified Terms you may terminate your account before they take effect; continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Hungarian law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence.

We aim to resolve disputes amicably — contact us first at support@a11yfy.com. Consumers residing in the EU may also turn to the alternative dispute resolution body competent at their place of residence; details of the body competent for the Operator are listed in the Imprint.

18. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a business transfer with notice to you. These Terms, together with the documents referenced in them (Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy, Imprint), constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
