Why now

Every public PDF is now a compliance surface.

~95%

of PDFs on the web don't meet accessibility requirements.

  1. 2018 Public sector — mandated by the EU Web Accessibility Directive.
  2. 2025-06-28 EAA — accessibility extends to the private sector too.
  3. 2027-04 ADA Title II — takes effect across US public bodies.

How it works

Three steps, minutes each.

  1. Upload.

Drop in any PDF — born-digital or scanned. We analyze its structure and show you what's broken and what fixing it will cost. The analysis is free.

  2. We remediate.

Tags, reading order, headings, tables, lists, alt text, document language, title — rebuilt to PDF/UA-1. Documents that only need structural repair keep their original content untouched.

  3. Download with proof.

You get the accessible PDF plus an issue-level report mapped to the standard's checkpoints — evidence you can hand to an auditor.

Why a11yfy

Built to be checked, not believed.

Price before processing

Every upload gets an analysis and a credit quote up front: 1 credit (~€0.30) per page when the file only needs structural repair, 3 when it needs full reconstruction — and 0 when it's already compliant. Set by your document, not by a tier you guess.

Minutes, not weeks

A typical document is analyzed in about a minute and remediated in minutes. Agency turnaround for the same file is measured in days.

Validated, not asserted

Every output is checked with veraPDF — the open-source industry validator — against the machine-checkable PDF/UA-1 requirements. The result is in your report, file by file.

Your document stays your document

Where the structure allows it, we repair the existing file in place — same visuals, same text — instead of regenerating it. And when a document does need full reconstruction, the result is still visually identical: the accessibility layer is invisible.

Both sides of the Atlantic

PDF/UA-1 plus WCAG 2.1 AA output covers the technical basis of the EU's EN 301 549 — for the public sector and the EAA alike — and US Section 508 / ADA Title II expectations.

GDPR by design

Document processing runs in the EU. Inputs are deleted after 7 days, outputs after 30. Deletion is automatic, not a support ticket.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I get back?

A tagged PDF conformant with PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1), plus an issue-level accessibility report. The visual appearance of your document does not change.

Does automation really make a PDF compliant?

Machine-checkable requirements — tags, structure, reading order, metadata — yes, and we validate each file with veraPDF. Some criteria, like whether an image description is meaningful, are judgment calls; our reports flag anything that deserves a human look. We don't pretend otherwise.

What does it cost?

1 credit per page for technical repair, 3 for full reconstruction; the exact quote is shown before you confirm. A credit costs €0.30 or less. If a document already complies, processing it costs 0 credits — and if the output fails our veraPDF validation, you aren't charged at all.

Is my data safe?

Files are processed in the EU, encrypted in transit, and deleted automatically — inputs after 7 days, outputs after 30.

Which laws does this help with?

The EAA and the EU public-sector Web Accessibility Directive (via EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA), US Section 508 and ADA Title II expectations, and equivalent national rules — including penalty levels by EU member state.
